Merchant Account - Hints & Tips for Merchant Accounts and Credit Card Processing
• Never sign-up for a merchant account at some company who ask you to pay first, and then refunds you if you're not successful.
Unless the company is really world-famous, it's just too risky.
• Look for credit card merchant accounts with free application, without obligation, free setup and same-day approval.
• Look for reasonable processing fees and a price guarantee.
• Watch for hidden fees! Ask if there are any fees whatsoever that aren't clearly stated on their website or are not listed at all.
• Don't assume a big bank is better, more ethical or has less fees. Many big banks outsource their services and pass the high fees
to the merchant.
• Check Google Groups for user feedbacks about certain merchant account companies. Type in the company name and add keywords
like scam, lawsuit, ripoff, fraud etc. See what people comment on the various companies - check the dates of the posts, since
companies tend to change over the years.
